Den frustrerade vetenskapen

De flesta skulle väl svara på frågan om vad god utbildning är att en god utbildning är det samma som att ha kunskaper inom teknik, naturvetenskap, ekonomi, medicin och liknande. Knappast någon skulle svara att sann utbildning innebär förståelse om Gud, andesjälen och hur man blir befriad från lidande. A C Bhaktivedanta Swami förklarade att vad som lärs ut på våra högskolor inte är något annat än ordinärt hantverk, hur avancerat det än kan verka vara.


"Because he knows that technical art how to bring electric current, that does not mean he is educated. Education is different thing. The worker, they are just working so many wonderfully, but that does not mean they are educated. That is... In Sanskrit it is called... What is called? The English is "craftsmanship." He knows the art, how to do it. So at the present moment the technical education is there.

Formerly this technical education was entrusted to the demons. Formerly they were also manufacturing big, big aeroplanes, but they were being done by the demons, not by the great saintly persons, sages, no. They were being done by the demons. And the yogis, they could produce such wonderful things by their yogic mystic power. That was another thing. But generally, when there is question of manufacturing, that was being done by the demons.

So actually, at the present moment, although we are manufacturing so many nice things for the comforts of the body, but that does not mean it is education. Education means brahma-vidya, to understand what is that living force within this body that is working, what is his position, constitutional position, how it is working, wherefrom it has come, so many things. That is called brahma-jijnasa, to enquire about the spirit. That is education. So that education is lacking. Therefore there are so many problems at the present moment. "

"So this is the beginning of spiritual education, to understand that the living entity is eternal and the body is changing. And then next question will be that if the body is changing, then this body will be changed, so after my death what kind of body I am going to accept? That is education. That is education. And if I remain blind, I do not care, and next life I become a dog, then what is the value of my present education? In spite of all education, next life I am going to become a dog or tree, then what is the value of my education? That education is not. Throughout the whole world perhaps we are giving this education. Throughout the whole world, find out any institution or university where this education is given. No. Simply big, big talks. And you talk something nonsense and take laureate, Nobel Laureate. That's all. It is going on. Somebody is talking nonsense that life is produced from matter, from chemicals, and if we challenge, "All right, combine some matter in egg form and bring life," that rascal will say, "No, it will take millions of years." And if the bird is giving life in five days, why you are taking doctorate title? Give the chicken doctorate title. The rascals are simply bluffing the people. This is going on in the name of education. Can anyone produce life by a combination of chemicals? And these rascals are advertising. We challenge, "All right, not very big thing. Egg, you can see there is some white substance and yellow substance, and you are very big scientist, you find out what are the chemicals and combine it and put it under legs of the chicken or in the incubator and bring life. Otherwise, why you are talking nonsense and cheating people?" Not only cheating people, people are becoming godless. Everything is science. And the science is this, cheating, that life can be produced by chemicals."(08/07/76)

Hårda ord kan man tycka, men faktum är att vad som lärs ut på våra universitet är relativ kunskap, dagens vetenskapliga kunskaper som alla är så stolta över kommer i framtiden att betraktas som mossig vidskepelse, precis som vi ler åt vad som ansågs vara absolut vetenskaplig sanning för några århundranden sedan. Vad som lärs ut vid universiteten är således relativ kunskap, inte absolut. Absolut kunskap förändras inte, den är och förblir sann i all evighet. Det säger sig självt att sådan kunskap kan man inte få från naturvetenskaplig forskning, en forskning som bedrivs av personer kanske råkar vara skickliga hantverkare inom sitt område, men likafullt är de inget annat än människor med de fel och brister som alla människor ofrånkomligen har.

Det blir på sätt och vis både rörande och tragiskt när den lilla människan med sina begränsade sinnen och tankeförmåga försöker sig på att studera det ofantliga universum, eller ännu hellre: att finna universums ursprung och orsak. Det är förstås en hopplös uppgift att försöka finna svaret på frågan om livets ursprung genom hjälplöst spekulerande. Det är väl därför som så många forskare i sin besvikelse och frustration bestämt sig för att om de inte lyckats finna någon Skapare så kan ingen annan göra det heller. Alltså finns Han inte.
Att en teori med såpass bristande bevisföring fått ett sådant genomslag, åtminstone i västvärlden, är egentligen märkligt, man borde åtminstone vara villig att lämna frågan öppen men icke.
